Character Descriptions

A monster just walked into the room. There was dribble coming from his mouth and his eyes were big and scary.
He's got big red and yellow eyes, a big yellow nose with snot dribbling out.
It was a gross bloated beast with big black and purple horns protruding from his head.
He has 15 extremely sharp teeth and no tongue.
He has a big tummy with wrinkles all over him.
He is very mean and loves to eat kids.

This is a description of the monster in the picture. It is a combo of descriptions from Aimee, Beverley, Aidan and Georgia.

Oh Baby!!!!

While discussing the changes we go through in puberty is came up as to how much we have changed since we were babies. So we have decided to hold a Guess the Baby competition. Those that wish to be involved are bringing in baby photos and they will be displayed on the classroom window from Wednesday until Monday.
We will all try and guess who the babies are and invite the staff to do the same. There will be a prize for the person with the most correct. Of course Miss Austin will be the cutest baby there!!!! Hehe

Maths Week

A huge congratulations to Ben, Aidan, Woojing and Cameron for winning the Year 7 Mathex competition this week. I am sure it was purely due to all my cheering :-) Well done boys. There were many comments as to how well you worked together as a team.

Everyone else has been enjoying the chance to solve problems, either by themselves or as a class. The maths quest was great fun. A gigantic thanks goes out to Miss Jones for organising such a great week. I wonder what other weeks we could have-a chocolate week????

Lucky Nikita!!!!

Dear MIss Austin,
Today I was'nt at school because I went down to Pukekohe race track with my mum , sister , stepdad , Poppa & other patience from the Mercy Hospice. My poppa arrived by helicopter from Auckland. We thought we were just going to watch poppa have a few laps around the race course and a helicopter ride, but we all got to have a go and I went on the helicopter over pukekohe and had a few laps in a race car. I went in a little white hatch back, we got up to 200 kms. It was awesome. We all got t-shirts and VIP passes.
Here is a photo of me getting strapped in the race car.

New Years Question

Question for you to find the answer to:
Why do we celebrate our new year on the same day every year but Chinese New Year, Maori New Year (Matariki) and Ramadan(Muslim New Year) aren't celebrated at the same time every year? The same applies to Easter, why is it never celebrated on the same dates?

It's a tricky question but I am sure you can find the answer.

Parcel!!

My WeeMe of Miss Abraham!!!
We opened the parcel today from Miss Abraham's class at Walter G Byers Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. In the parcel were letters for us plus a great big bag of lollies-thanks Miss Abraham, they were very yummy.

The letters were interesting to read, they showed the differences between our school and theirs. One major difference we discovered was the school hours. They start at 7.30 in the morning and finish at 1.45!!!! Devon thought this would be pretty good, maybe he could suggest it to Mr Sweeney :-)

This week we are writing replies to the class.
